Philanthropia, Inc
dba PHILANTHROPIA MINISTRY
A HOSPITAL VISITATION, COUNSELING, and REFERRAL MINISTRY
SERVING THE PEOPLE OF GOD
Sponsored by a Consortium of Greek Orthodox Communities in Southern California

MISSION GOALS

TO BE A CARING AND LOVING OUTREACH
MINISTRY TO ALL OF THE PEOPLE OF GOD.

TO BE A SYNERGY OF PURPOSE AND COMPASSION, COMPOSED OF
DEVOTED AND COMMITTED ORTHODOX CLERGY AND LAITY.

TO BE PHILANTHROPIC:  SERVING PERSONS WHO ARE SUFFERING FROM HIV/AIDS, CANCER, CARDIAC, AND OTHER CATASTROPHIC LIFE-THREATENING ILLNESSES.

TO GUIDE, COUNSEL AND CONNECT THE SICK AND SUFFFERING
WITH EXISTING AGENCIES AND CAREGIVING SERVICES.

TO HELP THEM ENROLL IN EDUCATIONAL AND TRAINING PROGRAMS,
TRANSITIONING INTO A MORE MEANINGFUL LIFE.

TO GIVE THEM REFERRALS TO LEGAL SERVICE AGENCIES.

TO BE AWARE THAT THOSE WHO SUFFER FROM PHYSICAL AND EMOTIONAL ILLNESSES ARE ALSO IN NEED OF SPIRITUAL HEALING.  THEIR FAMILIES ARE CO-SUFFERERS AND ARE IN NEED OF EMPATHY, COMPASSION, AND UNDERSTANDING.

THE PARAMOUNT WISDOM OF THIS "PHILANTHROPIA" MINISTRY IS TO AWAKEN WITHIN EACH CHRISTIAN THE DESIRE TO SERVE ANOTHER HUMAN BEING REGARDLESS OF RACE, GREED, COLOR, ETHNIC ORIGIN, OR THOSE MARGINALIZED OR DISCRIMINATED.

"…for I was hungry, and you gave me food; I was thirsty, and you gave me something to drink;
I was a stranger, and you welcomed me; I was naked, and you gave me clothing;
I was sick, and you took care of me; I was in prison, and you visited me.
…truly, I say to you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are
members of my family, you did it to me.

Gospel of Saint Matthew 25: 31-40, on Cheesefare Sunday
